BACKGROUND

Château de Montfort is a stunning estate located on the limestone plateau above the Loire River in the Touraine region. This historic property consists of 75 acres of premium quality land throughout the Vouvray AOC and Touraine AOC. The estate is somewhat unique in that most of its vines are located surrounding the winemaking facility in one large parcel. Average vine age is over 50 years, limiting yields and providing great concentration and depth in the wine.

WINEMAKING & VINTAGE NOTES

In the heart of the Loire Valley, The Feray Family produces a Crémant de Loire made of Chenin Blanc and Chardonnay. Hand harvested, grapes grow in Vouvray for the Chenin Blanc and in the edge of the appellation for the Chardonnay. Montfort Crémant de Loire Brut is produced according to the traditional method. Chenin and Chardonnay are pressed and fermented together in temperature controlled tanks for 3 weeks at a low temperature. After the second fermentation, the wine ages at least 12 months on lees for a richer texture.

TASTING NOTES

The minerality of Chenin and the finesse of Chardonnay offers a complex nose with accents of quince, apples, brioche and roasted notes. The palate is refreshing, light and mineral, with a white floral finish. To be enjoyed chilled as an aperitif or with dessert.
